| PEDESTRIAN LEVITATION: INSTALLATION
( 2005) |
|

Pedestrian Levitation is an 'abstract interface' between the pedestrian
and the city. It was conceived after an observation of the movement
of pedestrians around a rather odd pedestrian crossing in Brussels.
The pedestrian use of public space is often chaotic, and sometimes
unpredictably limitless. These observations were the basis of a reflection
on urban design and the structure it imposes. A bird-eye video of
the location was recorded and analysed frame by frame with animation
software. The pattern that was obtained by this research was the
basis of an installation in public space. White stickers were applied
to the pavement and a nearby empty wall, visualising real movements
while adding a poetic interpretation as well.
The Pedestrian Levitation Research video was featured
on the Belgian Focus program of Argos
Festival 2005,
Brussels.
Video an images were featured on the Mind
in Matter exhibition of OpenSource,
