Orboria
The question
Anyone who meditates, does yoga, runs or climbs knows that consistency and regularity matter more than the occasional hard push. Many apps measure performance: how far, how fast, and whether you broke a record. Could an app instead show, quietly and without pressure, whether you were there?
What I made
Orboria is a one-screen timer and visualisation tool for the continuity of your practice, on iPhone and iPad. You keep a few practices, each in its own colour, and see your regularity in four rings of light: today, the week, the month and the year. Each time you practise, new arcs light up in all four at once, so you see at a glance how regular you were, from today to a whole year. You choose whether to time a practice, leave it open or add it after the fact. One ring fills to the bell. Stayed longer? Add the minutes, or keep the length you set. A quiet timer, an honest record.
Through Apple Health, activities you do not have to log in the app come in by themselves: what your watch or another app recorded simply counts, never twice. So you see your regularity, and what you still need to do to reach your goals for the week. What you keep in Orboria is written back to Apple Health too.
Its form grew out of the glowing orb of an early version of Imagoria, which disappeared when that app was redesigned and found a life of its own here. I designed and built the app myself, natively in Swift, with AI-assisted development and automated tests.
What comes of it
Orboria is still a prototype in development, on its way to the App Store. There is no public test version yet, and the screens may still change.
